One of Ilka’s listeners said about her voice and music, “It has such an expansive energy, as though it lifts the veil when you listen to it.” The title of llka’s debut album, “Ocean of Light” beautifully reflects this expansive energy. It also refers to a concept in Chinese Zhineng Qigong, studied and taught by Ilka for over 10 years, describing an ocean of life-force energy, “chi,” or the loving, higher vibrational universe that is all around us, and reminds us that we can tap into at any time for health and well-being, as well as connection to the divine.

Each of the 11 songs on the album takes you on a sacred sound journey of relaxation and meditation, helping to soothe your soul, and access your inner wisdom and joy. Ilka’s inspiration for the album comes from the powerful, expansive Pacific Ocean. She spent many hours on the cliffs of the Bodega Bay Headlands, connecting to Source and allowing melodies and ideas to flow through to her while enjoying the stunning vistas, the company of whales and seals, and majestic pelicans flying overhead.
Ilka has been very fortunate to collaborate musically on the album with two talented, award-winning musicians and audio mixing, mastering engineers, Tommy Graven and Hank Kalleen.
The music on “Ocean of Light” has been played at meditation and healing retreats, including Dr. Joe Dispenza’s Advanced Meditation Retreats. The first song on the album, “Spirit Eyes” is featured in the short film, “Journey to the Heart,” to be released soon.
